1994 Cailloux Chateauneuf du Pape

I was most surprised to see a note declaring the ’95 Cailloux dead. How could that be? ’95 is a fine vintage, Cailloux has been a fine wine- must be that poor sap’s storage, right? Well, I didn’t have any ’95 at hand, but I did have a half-bottle of ’94. OK, that will do… OUCH! A blast of vinegar, followed on by chocolatey madeira. Just awful. Time in the glass was NOT kind. I’ll admit it- mid ’90s Cailloux has a problem. Joe DiRita.
