1989 Chapoutier Monier de la Sizeranne

A pair of ’89 Hermitages accompanied the next pizza, made from caramelized onions, sauteed morels, Yukon Gold potatoes, and raclette cheese. The ’89 Chapoutier Monier de la Sizeranne was a well-made, well-priced ($24) wine when it was released. The wood-spice was probably more evident on this bottle than its co-sacrificees, but there was a lovely smoke/leather quality and a hint of Hermitage blueberry. Medium bodied, darned nice wine, fully mature, drink ’em now.
