Riesling
As with Gewurztraminer, we feel that domestic producers
still haven't figured Riesling out. Happily, there are some exceptions.

'94 Eymael Urziger Wurtzgarten Spatlese: When this was first released, it was a delightful strawberry cream pie. Though it's still beautifully light in color (almost green), it's starting to show the floral complexity and a touch of the petroleum that a mature riesling ought to have. More than a little off-dry, bright acidity, light and deft. Yum. SY (7/99)

'97 Unionville "Windfall": New Jersey's finest. Heavy, compared to the Eymael, but intense and well-balanced. Off-dry and quite acidic. Great with egg rolls. SY (7/99)
