1998 Rochioli Pinot Noir “Little Hill”

This is supposedly old vines stuff. Year in, year out, I find it some of the weakest wine to emanate from Rochioli. I was shocked to find that the first whiff was actual fruit of the black cherry sort, a real surprise. But after a few minutes of air, the big toasty oak totally took over and my universe was again put back into order. Brutish and short, a real Hobbesian wine.
