1999 Gaillard Côte-Rôtie “Côte Rozier”

I make no bones about it: the Côte Rozier vineyard is one of the very best spots in the appellation- very distict and powerful wines. Gaillard’s version is very internationally styled, lots of new oak and extraction, but within that idiom it’s one of the very best. It’s easy to spot as a Rozier with a powerful licorice note and a deep texture and strong finish.
